Research & Innovation

Clarkson enjoys an international reputation for excellence in research and innovation.  Our world-renowned scholar-researchers tackle some of the toughest challenges facing the global community today in energy, technology, engineering, business, medicine and the environment.

While individual scholars pursue many interests, Clarkson is internationally known in five signature areas:

• biotechnology

• global supply chain management

Clarkson also strengthens and leverages its expertise through cross-disciplinary centers of excellence.

Center for Advanced Materials Processing (CAMP).
A New York State Center for Advanced Technology. Specializations within colloid and surface science include: colloidal dispersions and processing; nanosystems; particle transport, deposition and removal; chemical-mechanical planarization; particle synthesis and properties; and thin films and coatings.

Institute for a Sustainable Environment. The Center facilitates research and education across Clarkson’s curriculum and oversees several interdisciplinary degree programs. It also includes the Center for Air Resources Engineering and Science (CARES) and the Great Rivers Center.

Center for Rehabilitation Engineering, Science & Technology (CREST). The Center supports collaborative research and educational projects across the fields of biotechnology, physical therapy, science and assistive technology.
